Ruth Smith Richards was a well-known local writer in the early 1930's. Her work was published in several specialty magazines, and she wrote a weekly newspaper column, "When the Rainbow Comes Down in Ohio," in her hometown of Newark, Ohio.
After her death in 1970, her daughter, Linda Richards Arms, collected all of her mother's writing and has compiled it into two volumes. The Rainbow Comes Down in Ohio is the first. Buckeye Memories, the second volume, was released in Ohio's Bicentennial Year of 2003.
Ruth Smith Richards' talent is evident in her prose as well as her poetry, and emphasizes her deep love for her home state of Ohio.
